Getting started with watercolour

I have not played with watercolour since I was in middle school, that was a long time ago.

But when I decided to get back into arts and crafts, water colour was the first thing that came to mind. After some research I decided on the Derwent Inktense pencils.

The colours are to die for, so vibrant and pretty. These are perfect if you want to make cards or smaller projects. I have already played with them, so I am sorry that there is no "new out of the box" picture, I just could not wait.

Below you can see some swatches I made. For easier reference I only wrote the number, not the full colour name.

My first art work were some sunflowers, it was a happy beautiful day, and you can tell I had a spring in my step.

Then my mood suddenly changed, after a friend of mine had some bad news.
Below you can see the next painting I did, directly after the news. It is quite different. The background is still a little wonky, as those pencils are a new kind of medium for me, they dry permanent, so I could not manipulate the background as much as I wanted.
Still, I feel it captured the mood of the moment beautifully.

I hope you like them both, for the first time I am quite happy with them.

If you want to try those pencils you can find them here

Have a lovely rest of the weekend
